Born and raised in Portland, Kris became a massage therapist after attending East West College of the Healing Arts. Studying anatomy, kinesiology, and figure work in both sculpture and drawing at the University of Oregon, where she earned her BA in Fine and Applied Arts in 1992, eventually led her to a career in massage therapy. She is proud to be part of the knowledgeable team at Parkside and enjoys assisting people in their recovery from motor vehicle accidents just as much as creating space to foster deep, therapeutic relaxation. Kris specializes in combining Swedish with Deep Tissue and Myofascial massage while drawing from detailed anatomical knowledge and a strong intuitive nature. She has additional training in Trigger Point, Ashiatsu, and is currently taking classes in energy work. When she is not doing massage, she can be found spending time with her son and their 2 cats, cooking, playing music, singing, and watching Blazer basketball.
Saliha has been practicing massage therapy, bodywork, and energy work for 12 years. She's lived and worked in California, Alaska, New Mexico and since 2008, in the Pacific Northwest. The first bodywork Saliha studied was Polarity Therapy at Heartwood Institute of the Healing Arts in Garberville, CA. Polarity Therapy uses light to deep touch to balance the electro-magnetic currents on and around the body, elegantly relieving areas of pain and tightness. At New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics in Albuquerque, NM, she studied Swedish Massage, Polarity Therapy, Acupressure and Traditional Chinese Medicine. For over 10 years she's studied and practiced MyoFascial Release, which works with the connective tissue, or fascia, that she sheathes and interconnects all the body's structures. MyoFascial Release uses sustained pressure to allow the fascia back into healthy elasticity, greater relieving pressure and pain in the body. Saliha combines all these modalities, along with Lomi-Lomi massage and Cranio-Sacral Therapy, in her massage and bodywork practices. She loves to open herself to the healing energy of the universe and allow it to flow through her as she works with people. She believes that this energy is what heals, and she believes in the magic of hands, touch, and intent as an instrument of that healing. Saliha moved to the Pacific NW for the rain & the green, and loves the outdoors, music, herbal medicine and good friends.
